Daniel Cullen Parents John Morrow and Sharon Cullen Mourn Son Killed in St Johnston Crash

Feb. 26, 2026 — St Johnston, Co. Donegal, Ireland Daniel Cullen, an 18-year-old from the Shantallow area of Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, died suddenly on February 24, 2026, following a collision between a Vauxhall Corsa and a lorry on the R236 Lifford-Carrigans road. He was the beloved son of Daniel Cullen parents John Morrow and Sharon Cullen, and passed away alongside fellow 18-year-old Caoimhin Porter-McLoone, both passengers returning from a shopping trip to Asda in Strabane.

Daniel Cullen, late of 13 Drumleck Gardens, was pronounced dead later at Altnagelvin Hospital, while one victim died at the scene. The driver, also 18, suffered serious injuries and was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, according to Derry Daily.

The crash, occurring around 11:15 p.m., has devastated the close-knit Shantallow community. Fr. Michael Canny, who met the families, stated:

At this time, our thoughts and the thoughts of most of the people in the city are with the families who are totally devastated… This is a close-knit community that sticks together, but nevertheless their lives are now going to be changed forever.
